There is no reason that American citizens need to respond to pollsters. This is not the Census Bureau. No pay? No response.

Personally, I'd like to see them go out of business. That won't happen, I'm sure, but there's no reason to HELP these parasites. Let's confuse our politicians.

Statistics and polling

A colleague says that statistics comes down to two choices: doing something you shouldn't have done, or NOT doing something you SHOULD have done. It's that simple. SO, pollsters make up bad questions, ask them of people who don't think very carefully (if at all), and people respond.

I say "what you SHOULD do is NOT respond to poll questions." First of all, our poll questions phrase things to satisfy their clients, NOT to ask us what we really think. They don't have the TIME to analyze what would be our responses to more open questions. Second, pollsters waste our time. I know, I know, we play games, go to movies, talk on the phone, but we CHOOSE to do those things. Do you CHOOSE to be a polling subject? I bet not.

Let's bring that industry to it's tailored knees. Don't respond to polls or polling questions. Make the politicians do their own work. She, of course, was being paid by the company. She clearly wanted my opinion, but wasn't willing to pay for my time. I explained that if SHE was being paid, I should be earning dollars too. My time is valuable - to me, if not to her or her company. What ethical construct is she in? "Oh," she said, "This is about your taxes." SO WHAT??? That's not earning me any dollars. She's stealing my time with no compensation.

I say...MAKE the POLLSTERS pay. DON'T answer their questions - even if you are interested in the topic. You are NOT required to answer. They make THEIR money off of you.
